Alright, honey, listen up. After 2 weeks diving deep into the data job market and checking out the latest trends, I gotta say, I was pretty shocked. Turns out, my job might not be as safe as I thought, and yours might be in danger too. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics says there’s gonna be huge growth in data science, statistics, and market research analyst jobs over the next ten years. But here’s the kicker: a lot of people are having a hard time finding these data jobs, and with AI shaking things up, who knows how secure our gigs really are?

So, here are five key trends I’ve noticed:

  1. Job Market Stability Amid Layoffs: Even though the tech world been hit hard with layoffs since COVID-19, especially early 2023 and 2024, data jobs for our data scientists, analysts, and engineers only dropped about 15% since the end of 2022 but stayed solid since early 2024. That’s pretty dope, considering the overall tech layoffs.
  2. Increased Competition: The data job market got a bit more cutthroat compared to the last couple of years. Companies are getting more picky with who they hire due to both economic uncertainty and high interest rates. They’re looking’ for folks with skills that…
