So, for the past few years the concept of van life has become very popular as an alternative lifestyle. Van life has gained a somewhat captivating allure because of couples we have seen traveling the country and living a gorgeous lifestyle. It seems to be the ultimate eccentric and enjoyable path to financial success. In this essay I will delve into the story of how I lived in my van for one whole year to save money because I was tired of paying rent. I managed to save enough money so that I could buy a four-bedroom house. This journey towards owning my own home took me on unexpected challenges, ingenious parking solutions, a few mouth watering meals and a touch of nomadic brilliance. 1. Be Frugal- Don’t do what I did and waste your money on all kinds of camping supplies before you even get into the van. I could have saved good $1000 by not buying tons and tons of camping supplies including tents, butane stoves, steel utensils and food storage and all kinds of things from REI, the glamourous camping store for yuppies. First get into your vehicle with adequate bedding and go park for a night at the truck stop. During that time list all the things you think you’ll need.
