Power BI cert, is it worth it?

The main idea is that power bi cert can open doors

but a great portfolio of what you can do is actually better. One cert I have seen cost $165.

so you wanna make some big money in tech and you’re wondering if a power BI certification might be worth your time and energy. Well I’m here to tell you while a certification certainly does not hurt and can be very valuable if you are a beginner in the field, it is far better to make a portfolio to show to the hiring manager.

Be prepared to tell the interviewer what you were thinking about when you prepared the items in your portfolio, including dashboards and maps and graphs.

Here are some resources you can look to in order to make sure you can pass the certification exam:

1. make sure you take plenty of practice exams these are available with Microsoft and in various Udemy courses.

2. Start with the dynamics 365 foundation exams and then use Microsoft resources to take practice exams on the certifications. The certifications that you want to take are PL-100 and PL-200 and then finally PL-300.

3. Power BI has a language called DAX. Make sure you understand filter context in PEMDAS.

4. Time series functions are a very important part of the exam for the PL300.
