“From Emergency Management to Remote Work: How My Filipino VA Saved My Entrepreneurial Journey (And My Sanity)”

Have you ever found yourself staring at your computer screen, contemplating difficult decisions while your ADHD brain races in a million different directions? That was me, sitting in my makeshift bedroom office, wrestling with the thought of letting go of my Filipino virtual assistant — a decision that would ultimately transform my perspective on remote work and personal growth.

After 17 years of crisscrossing the country as an emergency management contractor (talk about keeping my ADHD brain engaged!), transitioning to work-from-home life has been… interesting, to say the least. The constant movement and ever-changing scenarios of emergency response had been my perfect career match. But here I was, trying to build something new.

Let me tell you about my VA — she’s this incredibly sweet, dedicated professional who’s been putting up with my constantly shifting focus. One day it’s creating Medium article graphics, the next it’s diving into AI writing tools (in a language she’s not even fully comfortable with!). Classic ADHD entrepreneurship at its finest, right? 🤦‍♀️

Just when I was about to call it quits, something unexpected happened.
